Details:
A set of images of two #Starlink V1.5 satellites in operational orbit, captured in 2023. The small, plate-like satellite bus is visible; the solar array is not, due to the specific satellite configuration used to minimize brightness. The images of Starlink-3599 and Starlink-3619 were taken exactly one hour apart using a 25cm telescope that was tracked manually. These first-generation Starlink satellites will be progressively deorbited—eventually ceasing to exist—and replaced by a newer generation of larger satellites. Regardless of whether one views this as a positive or negative development, these satellite portraits serve as documentation of a specific phase in the evolution of spaceflight, and are therefore valuable.
