Details:
The late summer and early autumn nights allow wonderful views of the fantastic Cygnus Loop. This is a featherly complex of what appear to be huge gaseous filaments draped across the heavens. At 2,700 light years distant it is the remnant of a star that exploded around 20,000 years ago. It has 3 major parts. The crescent shaped Eastern Veil and the sharp pointed Western Veil. This is sometimes called the witches broom. Between the two and somewhat fainter is Pickerings Triangle. The wide shot is a stack of 800 30 second images. The Individual shots are stacks of 400 images. The telescope used is a Dwarf Mini and it was situated in my London car park.
