Details:
I went outside to see if the event had arrived, and was surprised to see a dramatic, bright, soft-edged grey-green line spanning east to west, nearly overhead. It was close to the usual location of STEVE, but much wider, and no motion seen. North of the arc at first looked like a dark void with only a few rays. I ran back with camera and found it had a lot of red. I swung it to the main activity developing low in the west. Rays were starting up in the fuzzy green, and a red glow ran parallel south of the arc. Rays in the green arc were moving west, but soon the tops became bright red, easy to see, and the rays reversed direction. While I interrupted the time lapse to make a panorama of the whole scene, the red faded to purple. The green aurora, now all well defined rays instead of fuzz, swept overhead and faded into the south while a faint red featureless glow remained.
